History / Points of Interest

Year Erected: 1975

The Anne Wesbrook Wing of the Anthropology and Sociology Building was built in 1951. Before it was incorporated into the Anthropology and Sociology Building, it was known as Anne Wesbrook Hall, after the wife of the first president of UBC, Frank Fairchild Wesbrook and was a women's residence. Anne Wesbrook Hall was renovated in the early 1970s to become offices. The Isabel MacInnes wing of the building was also formerly a women's residence and was also renovated into offices in the early 1970s. The building is named after the first women in the faculty of UBC, and later Head of the Department of German, Isabel MacInnes.
